Dear schoolmates,
Do you enjoy standing in the spotlight? Have you imagined yourselves bathing in applause? Here comes the chance. The English Drama Club is holding an audition next month to recruit cast members for a play to mark our school’s 50th Anniversary. We welcome all of you to have a go!
The play is called “An Unexpected Journey”, written by our Form Four student Chris Chan. It is about a Carmel student time-travelling back to the early days of Carmel. The protagonist Richard is an ordinary boy who studies at Carmel in the present. He messes up with an experiment in the lab and the explosion sends him back to the Carmel in the 60s! Struggling for methods to go back to the modern time, he cooperates with other students including the super intelligent boy Tony and the teacher Miss Lee. He goes on a hilarious and crazy journey, and eventually learns a valuable lesson.
Doesn’t it sound fun? The play is a mixture of comedy, sci-fi and touching storyline. If you are into acting and performing, this will be a great chance for you to train your acting skills on various genres. Our director Mr. Tsang will give you acting lessons and advise on your performances. Come and have a taste of being a Broadway star.
Since it is an English play, you can absolutely brush up your oral English. The more you speak, the more fluent you are. It definitely helps with your language skills by immersing yourselves into an English-speaking environment. Tired of only reading aloud English newspaper? Standing on the stage to speak could be a more ideal alternative.
No one can deny that they do not want to be a big star, but it is always the shyness that blocks them from shining. If you are one of those who lacks confidence, join our play to achieve a break-through. It is not easy to have hundreds of eyes falling on you, but we have the whole cast and production team to be with you. Don’t be afraid and give it a try.
The most remarkable thing of the act is that it will be the starter of our school’s 50th anniversary. It is such a huge honour to make the contribution. Do you feel like your sense of belonging is calling upon you? Grab the chance to celebrate for our school.
As for the information about the audition, it will be held in the Hall at 4p.m. on 13 March. Students are required to give a brief self- introduction for not more than two minutes in English. Then we will assign random acting tasks for you.
