At last year’s Christmas, I quarreled with my parents, messed up with my classmates, failed my quiz and so on. A lot of awful things happened to me. I was frustrated and didn’t want to live. And I decided to leave everything behind and was going to be a street-sleeper.

Those days were extremely cold in Hong Kong. I thought I was going to die in the cold if there’s no shelter for me. As I was walking on the street, I saw an old man selling ice-cream. The weather was so cold. No one would buy his ice-cream, right?
When I walked past him, he said, “Hey!”

“Eh?” I was confused, turning around.

“Young girl, my ice-cream can’t be bought in such cold weather. I gave you one for free,” said the old man, giving me the strawberry flavor. I didn’t hesitate and got the ice-cream. Since I had asthma, I guessed the ice-cream would bring me to hell in such a cold day.

After eating the ice-cream, I wandered on the street. However, many noises kept buzzing around my ears. Then, I saw my parents. They looked worried and sad. I tried to hide myself from them. Suddenly, I heard my mum’s voice.

“That child’s gone. Where’s she now? She’s my only child and I can’t lose her!” Yet, mum was speaking. Where did the voice come from?

Then, I also heard my dad sighing. “Why did she go? Oh, sorry my dear. I shouldn’t have quarreled with you.” And Dad as well, he didn’t say anything. What’s going on here? Were those words from their hearts?

I ignored what I had heard and just walked away. Suddenly, I met my classmates. They were those who were out of sorts with me. I could hear what they were saying.

“Tracy, we are going to apologize. Wait for us at home.”

“I think I’ve been bad to Tracy.” I was so surprised. Originally, I thought no one liked me. Friends and parents all broke up with me. Yet, I was wrong. I pondered on what I should do. Thanks for the ice-cream that reminded me there’s still someone loving me.

I didn’t hesitate and rushed back to home. As I reached my flat’s door, a lift opened behind me. My parents and classmates were walking out. Tears were running out of my eyes. I guessed they were without psychological preparation. I gave everyone a shock.
