The book Charlotte’s Web is written by E. B. White.  It is about a little pig called Wilbur and its life in the barn with other animals.
Wilbur was a small and weak pig when Fern, a farmer’s daughter who became friends with it later, took it home. Wilbur was taken to Fern’s uncle, Mr. Zuckerman’s barn where it met Charlotte, the spider.  Charlotte became Wilbur’s best friend. Charlotte saved Wilbur’s life by weaving super words on its web.  This made people think Wilbur was an unusual pig and should not be killed.  Although Charlotte died afterwards, its loyalty and faithfulness stayed in Wilbur’s heart forever.
Charlotte’s Web is an interesting and meaningful story with rich content.  In the story, Charlotte wanted to save Wilbur because Wilbur was its friend and it didn’t want Wilbur to be killed in winter.  Charlotte thought of an idea and it started to weave super words for Wilbur.  Although it knew its body became weaker and it died eventually, it still wove words for several times to rescue Wilbur.  Its effort in weaving the web symbolized its loyalty, faithfulness and friendship with Wilbur.
Besides the friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte, the message of respecting life is also made clear in the story.  Charlotte did not want Wilbur to die because it thought that every life has the same value and all living things have the right to survive, no matter whether it is a pig or a person.  Also, Fern showed her respect for life when she saved the weak and small piglet, Wilbur.  She stopped her father from killing the piglet and took good care of it.  This shows that she understands the value of life and respects it.  A little, eight-year-old girl can respect life and take care of the needy.  We can also do these things, can’t we?  We can treat people equally and show our care and love to the people who have physical or mental problems.
I strongly recommend this book because it gives us some special lessons and meanings.
