Book Report – Off the Beaten Track

This book is a collection of wise and witty words from travellers of many lands and centuries, with entrancing illustrations.  They share their feelings and the truth they found out during their journey.
‘Travellers always buy experiences which no books can give.’  This is the most important thing that I have learnt in the book.  It can really relate to our daily life.  We always face trouble or maybe something will happen suddenly.  We need to solve these problems with the help of our own experience and apply our knowledge.  There are things such as problem-solving skills that cannot be found in books.  We are just like  travellers who go everywhere to gain experience in order to survive in the world more easily.
‘Never did I think so much, exist so vividly, and experience so much as in the journey I have taken alone and on foot.’  When I first read this sentence, I really felt that life is a journey.  At first, my parents helped me a lot.  But eventually I need to solve problems, make decisions and bear peer pressure by myself.  I have taken the journey alone for a few years, and just using my own knowledge or what I believe, I have to solve problems as well as enjoy the process of growing up.
‘I should not feel confident in venturing on a journey in a foreign country without a companion.  I should want at intervals to hear the sound of my own language.’  I don't know whether my feelings towards this sentence is correct or not.  However, I just think that no matter what I am doing or thinking, I am only a little girl.  Although I am brave enough to face the consequences of my decisions, sometimes I also need help and feel lonely.  Furthermore, I need to strike a balance between being alone and lonely.
To me, the most important thing that can determine whether a book is good is that the book can give us insights and make us think.  In my opinion, Off the Beaten Track can give me all these.
