Some grumble that Hong Kong is infamous for being a city of complaints because of its complex historical background. Living under the rule of both British and Chinese governments, some young people in Hong Kong find it difficult to build their sense of identity. In fact, there are several wonders in Hong Kong which make all the young people  proud of being Hongkongers.

The pedestrian zone in Mong Kok is one of the wonderful spectaculars in Hong Kong. Mong Kok is always crowded due to the different sorts of entertainment in the district. There are street performances, which are mainly singing, joggling and magic shows. The pedestrian zone  has also some photo booths, offering photo-taking services with special effects like black and white, and 3D effects. Besides, the commercial buildings nearby usually sell trendy and exotic products, including electronics and home decoration gadgets. Young people nowadays like seeking new and strange inventions and hanging out with friends. These special features probably attract them to spend time and money with friends in the thriving district. They should be proud of their identity as it is not easy for them to have such a special place and thus a dynamic life in elsewhere but Hong Kong. Mong Kok is doubtlessly a place symbolizing the young generation in Hong Kong, who are equally vibrant and fashionable.

What’s more, Tsim Sha Tsui is another wonder of Hong Kong. It points towards the Victoria Harbour where there are often firework displays on special occasions. Young people would like to spend their time with friends. Walking along the Avenue of Stars, they can celebrate festive events while they are enjoying the stunning firework displays or other special programs. It’s also quite comfortable when we chat with our friends in the promenade and meanwhile enjoying the breeze. As a matter of fact, Tsim Sha Tsui symbolizes Hong Kong as it is a hot spot particularly for countdowns as there is a classic clock tower and a scenic harbour with a splendid skyline next to it. Young people tend to gather at Tsim Sha Tsui, an attraction in Hong Kong, being part of it and proud of it.

Not the end yet. Ocean Park should also be on the list of the wonders following the pedestrian zone. No Hongkongers should have forgotten the remarkable seahorse symbol on the mountain of the park. It is both an animal theme park, an amusement park in Wong Chuk Hang, and one of the two theme parks in Hong Kong. What makes Ocean Park unique and represent Hong Kong is its animal exhibits. Young people are usually interested in chubby and adorable animals like the giant pandas and the dolphins. They are also looking for excitement. There are lots of breathtaking rides in Ocean Park, for example, roller coaster, Ferris wheel and bumper cars. It is where most teenagers in Hong Kong build their precious memories with friends. They would definitely be proud of having such a wondrous place in Hong Kong.

Many may yet think Hong Kong is a boring concrete jungle and at the same time a cultural desert, and doesn’t have anything special. However, sometimes when we look closer, wonders like the crowded Mong Kok add colours to our dull city and the fascinating Tsim Sha Tsui make up the wonderful skyline.  Ocean Park also brings joy to locals, especially to the young people. All these help develop a glistening city and how can’t our young generation be part of it and proud of it?
