A day as a bumble bee

A bumble bee. Hm. I am a bumble bee, with yellow and black stripes on my body and a pair of wings attached to it. A sting or needle, whatever you call it, is embedded into my butt. It is so cool. I long to use it to sting someone, but something tells me I’d die if I use it. Well, I won’t then.

I fly into the beehive shaped like a cocoon. Inside is a vast space with many other bees zooming around. The interior is full of honey, nice, sweet honey. I can see the queen at the far side of the hive. I fly near her and notice that she is resting. There are quite a few honeycombs around her, and in each hexagon, there is a newborn bee.

I look around and see the bees doing their duties. There are so many of them! I wonder if I’ll ever remember their names and faces. I don’t think I have a job, though, since it’s my first time here. So I fly out of the hive.

I continue flying. Everything is so large. Oh dear! There is a massive brown object coming toward me! What is it! No, wait, stop! Ouch! I bumped headfirst into a tree trunk. I should have known.

I see a couple of people coming. They are spreading a checked cloth on the grass and taking out their food from a brown rectangular basket. I fly nearer, trying to smell the sweet aroma of human food. One of them spotted me and screamed, “Yikes! It’s a bee!” He immediately runs after me, flapping his arms like a drunken pelican. I fly as quickly as I can and finally, I’m out of his reach. Whew! That is close!

Dusk is approaching and I guess my time is up. It is fun being a bee.
