Ivan rushed towards his seat in a lightning speed, grabbing his stationary out of his bag and settled down within a few seconds. He could feel his heart pumping rapidly and cold sweat running out from his forehead. He glanced at the hall clock and its hour hand had already crawled to ‘9’.

‘How on earth can I be late for the exam?’ He could hardly believe that the Physics Exam had already started for 30 minutes. Without further thinking, Ivan began working on his Physics Exam paper…

‘Ring…Ring…Ring’ Ivan threw his pen disappointedly, as if he had just lost a race. He stared at the blank page, which is also the last page of the exam paper.

‘I could have finished that…Just give me 10 more minutes and I would figure out how to solve those questions!’ He thought. ‘It is not too shabby though, at least I have done all the previous pages.’

‘Ring…Ring…Ring’. The bell was still ringing. ‘Ring…Ring…’

‘Why is everything so awkward today? My alarm didn’t ring and now this bell is ringing non-stop. That stupid alarm…’ Ivan suddenly noticed that the ring tone of the bell was just like the one of his alarm clock…

‘Ring…Ring…’ Ivan opened his eyes and realized that his alarm clock was crying near his pillow. He pressed the button of the alarm and stopped it from ringing.

‘Nightmare? Really?’ Ivan was relieved when he knew that what just happened wasn’t real. He recalled what he had done in the dream and nearly laughed when he remembered that he was so frustrated when he couldn’t finish the ‘Exam paper.’ But his face turned pale when he noticed the time — 8:15a.m. He was late for the Physics Exam, ‘again’.

45 minutes later, Ivan rushed towards his seat in a lightning speed, grabbing his stationary out of his bag and settled down within a few seconds. He could feel his heart pumping rapidly and cold sweat running out from his forehead. He glanced at the hall clock and its hour hand had already crawled to ‘9’.

‘Why? Why my dream comes true?’ Ivan thought ‘And why it is a nightmare?’ He knew that time is limited, without further thinking, he started doing his Physics Exam paper.

But all of a sudden, Ivan nearly cried out in excitement — ‘The questions on this paper are exactly what I have done in my dream!’ He had a victorious grin on his face and kept on doing the paper. In 15 minutes time, he successfully solved all the problems and completed the paper.

After the examination, Ivan chatted with his friends proudly.

‘I bet I will beat you this time, Matt, this exam is just a piece of cake to me,’ Ivan declared that in pride. ‘I will have a higher form rank than you!’

‘Don’t be too cocky Ivan, I bet you can’t.’ Matt said ‘The loser shall pay the winner 20 dollars. How about that?’

‘No problem.’ Ivan added ‘Do u mind paying me now?’

Ivan returned home after school. He took out the chemistry textbooks from his bookshelf and started studying. But he couldn’t stop thinking of what had happened to him.

‘Why should I study? I have the ability to know what will be examined!’ Ivan hesitated. He knew that it was much more secure to revise, but his experience told him not to do so. Finally, he turned on his computer and completely forgot the revision. He went straight to bed at night.

Ivan walked into the hall and sat on his seat. Soon, after, the teachers distributed the Chemistry Exam paper. Ivan had no intention to do the paper. He just scanned through those questions and recited the ones that he couldn’t answer. After waiting patiently for an hour, the bell rang.

‘Ring…Ring…Ring…’ The bell stopped.

Ivan sat still. His face was as pale as his exam paper.

After school, Ivan rushed back home because he was afraid of talking to Matt. Then, he discovered that his alarm clock stopped working. It was still moving, but it did not ring even after Ivan changed its’ battery. He seemed to understand why he did not dream last night. However, instead of fixing the alarm clock, he threw it to the rubbish bin and picked up his biology textbook…

‘Here! 20 dollars.’

‘Thank you. I thought I would lose actually, but it turns out not to be…’

‘Me too! I did not expect you to win with F in chemistry but straight A in the others subjects!’
