E-books A Better Choice

Recently, electronic books have become more popular with the advancement in technology. Some people believe that e-books can replace traditional paper textbooks entirely. I totally agree with this.

Firstly, electronic textbooks can replace the clumsy and bulky paper textbooks. It is common for us to see students with their bodies bending forward carrying their extremely heavy schoolbags storing numerous textbooks. It is not good for their health as their backbones suffer every day. The electronic books can solve this problem. As all the materials can be stored in a small, light and portable electronic reading device, students no longer need to carry around tones of paper books. They can at last walk with their straight back.

Furthermore, using electronic books is convenient. With the introduction of electronic books, parents can purchase school books online with a few clicks on the mouse only. They no longer need to line up outside the bookstores, buying the textbooks one by one and carrying the heavy loads from the bookstores back home.

Moreover, the adoption of electronic books helps promote multimedia learning. Students’ learning should not be restricted to paper textbooks only in this information explosion era. With a multimedia study tool, students not only can be exposed to a huge amount of the most updated information, they can also learn things through multimedia means, like watching videos and playing games. Their learning can become more fun and effective.

Electronic textbooks are also more environmental friendly than paper textbooks. We do not need to destroy tons of trees to print the paper books. We should use e-books to save our earth.

Despite all the advantages of using e-books, some people still hold the view that the electronic devices are expensive compared with their paper counterparts. They think not many students can afford such a high price, especially those belong to lower class families. However, I would like to say that with the advancement in technology, the price of e-books is getting lower. Also the school and the government can subsidize students who have financial problems. They can still enjoy the benefits of using e-books.

In conclusion, it benefits both students’ health and study if e-books can replace traditional paper textbooks entirely. I am really looking forward to the replacement in the near future.
