Dear Ms Man,
During the morning assembly, we learnt that an advertising company offered to pay a rent for putting an enormous slimming advertisement on our school's outer wall. I oppose this idea as it will affect the school's tradition. I also do not think the proceeds are necessary.
The rent from the use of the school's outer wall is needless. Our school has enough money to use. We do not need extra income.
Our school building is not for commercial uses. School is a place where children can be educated. It is not a business. I have never seen any school with an enormous slimming advertisement on its outer wall. It is absurd.
One more concern is our school tradition and spirit. Slimming through crash diets is not good for our health. When such an advertisement is put on our outer wall, the students may think that the school has supported such slimming programmes. It will give an unhealthy message to students.
In conclusion, I do not think it is a good idea to rent the outer wall to the advertising company for slimming advertisements. It is unthinkable and needless. I hope my views will be considered.
