A Letter Of Complaint

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to complain about your fitness centre which I have just visited last Saturday. I am extremely disappointed about the revolting conditions inside and the poor attitude of you staff.

I would like to start by talking about the idiotic class I have spent a whole day in. The room which the lesson took place was poorly furnished. There was not any air- conditioning system and the room was extremely stuffy and humid. A cracked ceiling and broken mirrors could be seen, while only pieces of duct tape were used to stick among the torn parts. This is entirely dangerous and unacceptable to have lessons in conditions like this! The equipment was all worn out, including the bells and the amplifier. Besides the facilities and equipment, the most nonsense thing was the we were instructed by an unfit instructor, to do simple body- stretching exercises, and when all of us paid $500 for a lesson! Can anything even worse be given to customers?

Another problem was the snack bar. The bar was filled with damaged facilities and stains, attracting cockroaches running and scattering throughout the venue, just let alone the hygiene standard of the food! In addition to the misery, the bar only provides unhealthy food like fries and burgers, which lacked nutrition. I just don’t see the connection between junk food and the word “fitness”, upheld by you centre.

The most unacceptable thing was the poor attitude of your staff. Instantaneously after I experienced the unexpectedly wretched state of affairs of your fitness centre, I attempted to call your office for complaints, but what I received was an infuriating voicemail message from the assistant manager Mr. Tang. I complained about the lack of healthy snacks at the snack bar and he responded by saying that there were vegetables and dairy products in burgers, also fruit in cakes and drinks. When I complained about the dirty counter and dishes, he “advised” me to go exercise instead of sitting at the bar. And finally when I expressed my discontent through the matter that the assistant gave bad advice on healthy snacks, he claimed that it was good advice, as sugar and gat in junk food give nutrition! He also concluded that I should go to anther fitness centre if I was displeasure at your service with vulgar and threatening expressions used. I was shocked as he destroyed my hope against hope to your centre.

I wish to cancel my membership at your fitness centre, and I demand a sincere apology with a full refund of all paid fees immediately, otherwise this matter will be taken further.

Yours faithfully,
Felix Yiu
