What electronic gadgets do you own? Do you really need them or do you buy them because they are popular?
Teenagers like having electronic gadgets, including me. I have a mobile phone, an MP3 player and a digital camera. For me, they are necessary in my life. But honestly, I bought them also because of the entertainment they could provide me with. Sometimes, I treat them as a fashion accessory too.
At the very first time I bought my mobile phone, I really just needed its functions. I needed to use it after school to call my Mum. But as time passes, I have become greedier. I want more functions in my mobile phone to show how "in" I am.
I bought the MP3 player for its function. I can listen to music with it. So it entertains me when I am bored. It really is my good friend!
Then I bought my digital camera because everyone else was getting one. If I did not have any, it would be quite odd. Yet as I grow up, I eventually find it important because it can save the memories of our life and important moments, for example, birthday, school camp…
I think teenagers can’t even distinguish "want" and "need". They always buy electronic gadgets just because they "want". Me too! I need to change my mind – not to buy these gadgets because of the fashion but the need to do so. It is too expensive for a student to buy these gadgets and use them fashion accessories!
