To Give Or To Receive?

There are many good people around the world.  They do good things and bring positive effects to people around them and even society. These “good things” may be helping the people in need making people in bad mood feel better, encouraging people… They are willing to give up their time, money and other things they must make others’ lives easier, happier and better.  Most of us are willing to help people closer to us such as friends, family, classmates but good people are also willing to give a helping hand to people in need even though they don’t know them.  They may donate money to the charity to help man people in need in society while it is not a must for them to do so.

Speaking of good people helping people in society, the first person that comes to my mind is Miss Cheung Hoi-yan.  Miss Cheng’s good deed inspired me a lot.  Last year, Miss Cheng had donated two thirds of her liver to a patient suffering from liver failure, whom she had never met before.  Although there was risk of failing and pain during the surgery, she insisted on donating her liver to the patient. At last, the organ donation was carried out successfully.  However, this only let the patient live for half a month longer.  It is very unfortunate, but Miss Cheng said that she would not feel regretful as she gave the patient two more weeks to spend with her family. She also said that she was willing to donate organs so as to encourage more people to donate their organs to save more lives.  I think that Miss Cheng is honorable as she is very willing to give up her organs to save people’s lives.  Her desire to help people can overcome the pain during the surgery.

In this incident, I could see that love and care among people is selfless.  It is more blessed to give than to receive”.  We should help people in need as we are all members of society.
