A Terrible Morning

I still cannot forget that terrible morning when I was rushing to school.
Last Friday, the sky was filled by the ashes.  It was gloomy and the air was stuffy.  All these made me feel unwell but I had no time to care about it as I was about to be late to school.  If I had one more late record, then I must be killed by my evil class teacher Miss Chan.
I tried my best to run at a lightening speed to catch Bus No.8, which arrived at the bus stop by 7:55 am.  I had only two minutes before I would be late and my adrenalin level was going to reach the maximum!  Suddenly, by mistake, I kicked down a fire pan in which some fake money was burning inside.  I glanced back but I didn’t pick up the fire pan since I didn’t have the time.  I saw an old woman holding a black cat in her arms, smiling cunningly at me. Her face was pale and seemed bloodless.  She really made me feel frightened and uneasy.
There was only one minute left!  I quickly turned back and kept on running to the bus stop.  But then, I heard some footsteps following me.  “Plop! Plop! Plop!”  Once again, I turned around slowly and my heart was beating fiercely.  The footsteps stopped their dreadful march and there was no one behind me.  I turned forward and kept on running.
“Wow, how lucky I am!” I thought to myself.  The bus arrived just in time and I got on it immediately.  The bus was extremely cold and it was empty.  But I didn’t notice it at first and thought it’s already very late and all students might have already gone to school.
“The next station is Kowloon Secondary School,” the automatic announcer said.  Then, I pressed the bell.  However, the bus didn’t stop at KSS.  I went to the front of the bus and wanted to ask the bus driver what’s going on.  Before I uttered anything, I found that the driver’s hands were very pale and he was wearing a cap.  Today is gloomy, how come the driver is wearing a cap?” I asked myself.  The driver turned to me slowly.  “Oh!  My goodness!  She is that old woman!  I screamed loudly.  “Good morning little girl, this is the Hell Express.  Welcome on board!” the old woman said.  My whole body was trembling.  I wasn’t a pious Christian but then I could only pray to God.
Suddenly, a strong light shone from my neck on the woman.  She was very painful and twitched like an epilepsy patient.  She couldn’t control the bus anymore and I quickly escaped from it through the back door and ran away.  When I glanced back, I saw the knocked-over fire pan and heard some weak footsteps.  I guessed that the old woman was the ghost that the incense paper in the fire pan was for and because I knocked it down, she was very angry and decided to punish me.  I immediately picked up the fire pan and the footsteps disappeared.
Now, I knew that the tale was true.  The tale was if you kick down any fire pan during the Chinese Ghost Festival, the spirit will follow you and punish you.  How come I would forget that it was 14th July?
I touched my necklace and I grasped a big cross.  This time I knew that I must believe in God.
