I am a piece of paper

I am a piece of coloured paper which was made in a factory in China. I have forgotten which part of China it was and also how I was born. Well, I think everybody can hardly remember what happened during their birth. I don’t know what colour I am. Some said I am pink, and some said I am purple. I have no idea when my birthday is, as no one has ever told me.

I was packed and brought to a stationery shop just after my birth. I was then brought by a girl at age of thirteen to sixteen. It made me feel so excited as it was my first time to leave the boring shop.

She brought me to a green and white building. Three words, “Carmel Secondary School”, were written on it. She took me into a room named ‘315’. There were just few people inside. I was so scared as not many people were inside. What would they do to me?

‘Rizy, I’ve asked you to buy more,’ said a boy. ‘This is the only one left, sorry,’ said Rizy. ‘Well, Jinsu, we can use it first and buy more tomorrow,’ said another girl. ‘Okay, we shall start now,’ said a boy who just came in (he really scared me somehow).

Then they started. I’ll never forget what they did. It was too cruel to me…

‘Fold this pink paper into a butterfly,’ said Jinsu.

“Okay , let me cut it first,” said Rizy.

What? They said that they’ll cut me! Without giving me time to think, she took something like a bowknot out… Yes, I remember it. People called it “a pair of sea shores”!

“Ah!” I shouted, “What’re you doing!” But Rizy could not listen to what I said and continued to tear my body.

Rizy’s hands were really fast. After cutting me, she went on torturing me. She bent my legs to my head! How could a human be that brutal!

“Ahh!” I yelled, “My waist…” Even if I were an professional gymnast, I would get injured. But what’s the situation now? I am not! In that tiny package, there was no space for me to do stretching.

That was not the end. Rizy took an object and used it to push me onto a surface which was full of my friends. I remembered that thing, it was…

“Arghhh!” I screamed. I was in great pain. Then, I noticed that I couldn’t move. Poor me!

“Have you heard an odd sound?” said a girl (I was in great pain and could not find out who she was).

“No,” said the boy who scared me (I would never forget his voice), “It must be your auditory hallucinations.”

After that, I fainted. When I woke up, some friends told me that it was already five days later. I saw a girl whom I hadn’t seen before. She went there with her mum.

“Mum, see these paper butterflies. They represent our dreams,”said the girl, “I hope that my dream can come true. I want to become a doctor and I am working hard on it. I have read a lot of books about medicine.”

“Doctor! Doctor!” I screamed, “Help me! Can I still be saved? Help me!” But she went away.

Maybe this is my life. I am still staying in that room. Save me if you read this. Set me free…
