Fundraiser for Orbis (Poster)

Why should you take part?

Do you want to showcase your marvellous talent in front of people? Do you want to devote yourself to helping cure the blind? Do you want to gain an experience of helping others? Here comes a chance for you to shine and participate in a fundraiser for Orbis.

What is Orbis?

Orbis is an international non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to saving sight worldwide. Orbis programmes focus on the prevention of blindness and the treatment of blinding eye diseases in developing countries. In this fundraiser, we are going to conduct a talent show to raise money, which will then be donated to Orbis.

Why Orbis?

When you can see, it is easy to tale your vision for granted. However, if you were a blind, you would desperately want to take a look at this wonderful world. I believe, we, as teenagers, should make contribution to the meaningful Orbis programmes.

About the event

Part 1 Events and programmes

In the fundraiser, we are going to conduct a talent show. The talent show will be held in the auditorium on 1st December. The talent show consists of three parts: music, drama and magic shows. In terms of music, different genre of music will be performed in different ways. First of all, inspirational songs will be sung by the band in order to match with the purpose of the fundraiser. For instance, ‘Hero’ by Mariah Carey and ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Journey. Second of all, Christmas-related songs can be played by the orchestra. As the performing day is quite near Christmas, playing songs with the Christmas theme can attract the audience.

A drama with the theme of vision will also be performed. The plot of the drama will be created based on the true story of blind people being cured by Orbis. This will cause the resonance towards blind people and hence promote Orbis.

Other than that, magic shows will be performed. If possible, I suggest students perform magic shows with eyes closed so as to impress the audience and spread the message that blind people can also be capable of doing a lot of things.

Part 2 Donation

The money collected will be donated to Orbis. Donation boxes will also be placed all over the campus.
