The Meaningful Christmas Fundraiser

Why take part?

Christmas is just around the corner! It is a warm and cozy festival in which we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. However, while we are having various exciting Christmas celebration, some people, on the contrast, are hovering between life and death in the other places. They are sick and ill but they cannot save themselves. They need medicines, medical equipment, and even doctors but they do not have, just because they are poor. They really need help. Jesus Christ was born at Christmas and he sacrificed his life to save us since he has always loved us. Christmas is a good time for us to share the love of Jesus with others, especially with those who are in need, for instance, the sick people living in the poor countries. So how can we help them?

Take part in our fundraiser at Christmas and you are giving them a helping hand! This year, we are going to raise capital for the Medicins Sans Frontieres. It is also known as the Doctors Without Borders. Below is a brief introduction of this organization.

About the organization

Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. It offers assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. Up till 2015, over 30000 doctors, nurses and other medical professionals have been providing medical aid in over 70 countries. These doctors and nurses decided to volunteer their time to solve the issues of world health.

About the event

The fundraiser will be held for one cycle, right before the Christmas holiday (14-18,21December). We will have a series of meaningful events.

Day1&Day2

We are going to have a charity sale at lunch and after school near the school entrance. Appetizing and mouth-watering pop corns and cookies will be for sale! Stuffed animals and books donated by the teachers will also be for sale! We kindly invite all of you to join this charity sale.

Day3&Day4

We will broadcast a video about the work of MSF during lunch through our campus video network. After watching the video, if you are moved and prompted to support them, feel free to put your precious donation into the “donation box” placed on the teacher’s desk in every classroom. The donation will be collected after school.

Day5

We are going to hold an exciting and interesting auction at the hall! Many unexpected lots will be sold in this auction! If you are curious about what will be up for auction, remember to come and join it at lunch on that day!

Day6

We have invited our most welcomed teachers’ band- Super Senior to have a performance on the badminton court at lunch! They will sing inspirational songs to raise fund for MSF. Dear fellow students, come and support your teachers and MSF! Donate money for them!

The whereabouts of the donation

We will assemble all the raised fund and deposit it to the MSF bank account. We will make sure that no donation will be embezzled. The donation will be used to help the poor children who require aids:

v~HK$1000 can help MSF to buy enough surgical instruments and renewable supplies to treat 142 wounds
v ~HK$2000 can help MSF to vaccinate 833 children against measles
v~HK$3000 can allow an MSF team to provide a 2-week RUTF treatment to 20 severely malnourished children

We encourage you to join this meaningful activity. You will surely regret if you miss this golden opportunity to help others!
