What simile other than a bridge describes friendship?

A bridge is a good simile to describe friendship.  Friends are the people who support you all the time.  However, could there be another simile to describe friendship?
For me, a string which connects with a kite means friendship.  Kites are the things that travel everywhere and discover the world.  They fly up to the sky and have their journey.  However, the kite depends much on its string.  Its string keeps supporting the kite underneath it. Both of them have a tight knot and are well connected.  They fly together but the kite’s string always lets the kite “see better”.  Also, no matter how strong the wind is, both of them are staying together, supporting each other.
Without a string, no kite can beat the wind.  The kite and the string help each other all the time. When there is no wind, they stay together.  When there is a strong wind, they are blown by the wind but are still connected.
Friends trust each other.  The upper one flies without sorrow and the other one flies happily, holding onto his partner.
Friendship means trust, support and help between people.  Do you have a string to support you?  If not, from now, find your true friend and have a spectacular life.
