Ruby Day was a star. She got tired of her role on the international tour of ‘Bye Bye Birdie’. She said goodbye to her family and decided to go to California all by herself. She became an ordinary seventh grader and lived her life. She soon joined the school musical in her new school. She had a lot of ups and downs. She fought with Maureen, the star of the musical. But they learnt to work together and became friends in the end.

‘Life, Starring Me’ may not be well-known, but it definitely taught me the meanings of life. This book uses Ruby as an example to tell us about life. We may have happiness and sadness in life. But we shouldn’t give up just because of problems. We shouldn’t just leave the problem behind, but to find a solution. Ruby had these experiences but she didn’t give up. She found a way to solve her problem. Besides telling us not to give up, this book also tells us to give people a second chance. Maureen was rude to Ruby at first because she was new. Maureen was also afraid that Ruby would take away her role. But Ruby gave Maureen a second chance and they became good friends.

Ruby is a brave 16-year-old girl. She went to California and started a new life. She was alone but started to fit in really soon. Even though Ruby is a brave and strong girl, I think it is wrong for her to just leave her family so suddenly. Her family raised her, it is inconsiderate of her to leave her family.

The whole story is great. There is only one defect, and that is the part where her family didn’t know that she was going to California. It didn’t quite make sense because her family would know that she was going to California to study. They would have at least said goodbye. This part didn’t make sense. If the writer had added a little conversation or argument, it would have been perfect.

In general, this is a great book. This book is meaningful and can tell us about life. I highly recommend this book to all of you.
