There are many strange things happening in the world. Last Sunday, I had just experienced one.
That was a sunny day. In the morning, strong and bright sunlight passed through our windows and shone on my face directly. It was bright enough to wake me up. After I got up from the bed, I felt very hungry. Therefore, I asked my mum to prepare breakfast for me.
Mum was not in the living room. It was already half past nine. Mum usually got up at this moment. ‘How come she is still sleeping today?’ I thought. I entered Mum’s bedroom. However, there was no one in bed. Mum disappeared!
‘Mum! Mum!’ I was afraid and shouted. ‘Where are you?’
‘I am here…’ Suddenly, I heard a weak voice from the bed. I removed the quilt on the bed at once and I found something. It was about 20cm long. I looked more carefully at it, and…I found that it was my mum! She had suddenly changed her size and became much smaller. I was astonished. What was going on?
‘Mum…Why do you change your size…?’
‘I don’t know why…I just…I just pressed the light switch of the kitchen in my dream last night,’ Mum was nervous and confused. ‘Then I woke up, and I change to such a small size…’
‘Um…That does not matter now. By the way, I am hungry now. Can you prepare breakfast for me, please?’
‘You fool daughter! I am only 20cm now! How can I cook for you? Cook it by yourself!’
I felt sorrowful. When I was going to get out of Mum’s bedroom, I saw she was trying to get off from her bed by climbing down. She tried so hard. I sighed and turned around, putting her gently on my hand, and asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’
‘I want to go to toilet.’
I felt a little bit shy about it. Therefore, I just put Mum on the toilet board, closed the toilet door and went away. ‘Boom!’ Suddenly, a loud noise came out from the toilet. I was astonished. I quickly ran towards the toilet and broke into it. I found that Mum was sitting on the floor, bursting into tears eventually. I had never seen my mum cry. I calmed her down sincerely.
‘What happened? My dearest mother?’
‘I…fell from the toilet board as I am too tiny any short. I don’t want to have this body size anymore,’ Mum cried.
‘Okay, don’t be so frustrated. Do you want to eat something? I will cook for you, although I do not really know how to cook.’
I put my mum on my hand, comforting her again.
I cooked for my mum. This was my first time to cook for her. I cut the food into small pieces. Although the food tasted terribly, Mum was pleased and touched. In the afternoon, Mum fell asleep. I put her tiny body on her pillow. It was cute. Then I closed her bedroom door. After an hour, I went to her bedroom. I was shocked and screamed— Mum had changed back into her normal size!
At that moment, Mum woke up. ‘Oh, I have changed back into the normal size!’ Mum shouted loudly with an exciting voice. I wanted to know why she could change her size back so I asked her. She replied ‘I don’t know’ again. She said that she entered the kitchen in her dream and turned off the light switch of the kitchen. Then, she woke up and changed back to her normal size. It sounded strange but funny. I could not believe that I had experienced this kind of strange incidents.
At that night, I had a dream. I dreamt of a kitchen in front of me, and there was a light switch on the wall. I was curious. Without hesitation, I pressed it. Suddenly, I felt dizzy, wanting to fall asleep…
The birds were singing. A sharp, bright light shone on my eyes. It was a great morning. I opened my eyes. ‘Aw?! Why does the sky become so big?’ Suddenly, someone came in. It was my mum! But… why… was her size enlarged? At the same time, Mum shouted ‘Jasper! Why do you become so small?’
Suddenly, I realized that I was only 20cm tall! I suddenly realized that it was because of the kitchen and the light switch in my dream. Oh dear! This was the time for me to be taken care of by my mum!
