In terms of size, Hong Kong is just a tiny spot on the Earth.  However, this small place is actually one of the most famous cities in the world. Although the city is so well-known among the people in the world, is Hong Kong a good place to live in? My answer is: Yes, of course!
First of all, Hong Kong is an international financial centre. Many businessmen from different parts of the world come to invest on businesses. It makes the city’s economy stable and well-developed. In addition, the tax rates of Hong Kong are lower than those of the other big countries, such as the US and the UK. The good trading environment and low tax rates attract many headquarters of the big companies to station in Hong Kong. It makes the city become more prosperous. Hong Kong is a good place to make a fortune and is an ideal place to live in.
Secondly, Hong Kong is a city of multi-cultures. Before 1997, Hong Kong was governed by Britain for a hundred years. It makes the past of the city more exotic and colourful. Its citizens can be exposed to different cultures, such as those of the foods, the fashion and the customs. It attracts people of different nations to come to live in Hong Kong. Moreover, Hong Kong is ‘the Pearl of Orient’. Its spectacular night views from the Peak and Tsim Sha Tsui are famous all over the world. Many foreigners decide to live here to enjoy all the wonderful things.
Some people may think that Hong Kong suffers the problem of air pollution. The air quality is worsening and this produces thick clouds of smog. It will weaken the immune system of the citizens. Actually the government has been trying hard to improve the air quality. Some laws have already been enforced to control the air pollution and the government keeps planting different kinds of trees beside the roads to keep the city green and the air fresh. The problem will be solved soon.
Although the air quality of Hong Kong is not very good, its important economic status in the world and its diversified cultures make it a wonderful city. Therefore I think Hong Kong is an absolutely good place to live in.
