Miss Katherine is a beautiful and pitiful woman, who only falls in love once, but bad things happen to her.
She is a charming woman. In the book ‘Holes’, Miss Katherine is a teacher. She not only teaches the children, but also the adults. Many of her students are adult men. However, they come to school not for education but with another purpose. It is to see and admire her beauty.
But why do I say she is a tragic woman? The answer is about her beauty. One of her fans is Charles Walker, whose father is the richest man in the country. When he dates Miss Katherine, she refuses to go out with him. After that, Miss Katherine falls in love with Sam, a black man who belongs to the lower class. When Charles Walker knows that, he burns the school and kills Sam. Miss Katherine is so sad that she decides to kill whom she kisses. It is the turning point at which Miss Katherine turns herself into Kissing Kate Barlow.
When she turns into Kissing Kate Barlow, she becomes a cruel and professional robber in the desert. She will kill the people after she kisses them.
She dies of committing suicide. She takes the yellow-spotted lizard bare hand and lets it bite herself.
Miss Katherine is a tragic character. Fate changes a gentle teacher into a cruel killer. It shows that the world is unfair.
