The Kingdom of Cats

When I woke up that morning, I knew something was going to happen. It was Sunday morning. I played with my lovely cats as usual. I had 10 cats at home. As I was patting my favourite cat Mike on my bed, I discovered a well-designed book about cats on my desk. “Is that book mine?” I soliloquized.

Out of curiosity, I opened the book. “Wow! It’s a nice book.” I whispered. The book was about the kingdom of cats and the history of the kingdom. Then, I went on reading and Mike jumped up onto my thigh, laying comfortably and purring.

All of a sudden, Mike and I were absorbed by the book and fainted.
After a while, I woke up.

“Where are we?” I asked.

I rubbed my eyes and stood up. Seeing that Mike was taller than me and he could talk, I cried out,

“Why can you talk? It’s just amazing!”
“Now, you are in the Kingdom of Cats. It’s not that I’m speaking human language, but it’s you who can listen to cats language and you are talking in cats language!” Mike explained.

As I looked around with excitement, all cats walked with two legs like human beings. Some cats stared at me as they passed along and made me feel afraid.

“Listen! It’s no good for you to stay here for long because you will be turned into a little cat gradually and never go back to your world. We must leave here as soon as possible.” Mike warned me.
“Although I’m a cat lover, I… I don’t want to lose my parents and friends.”  I cried.

In a hurry, we asked someone for the way to escape. My fingers were changing into paws. Luckily, we knew that the magic door in the Cat Witch’s house could help us. The house was on the highest mountain in the world. As time passed,  a tail was grown at my back.

“Hurry up! Meow.” I hissed to Mike and I talked like a cat too.

Finally, we spent hours to climb up the hill and reached the old, ugly hut. Suddenly, the front door of the house opened and a strong wind pulled us into the hut. We saw an ugly and old cat sitting on a chair.

“What do you two come for?” She yelled.
“Would you lend us your magic… door and let us go back to our world?” I murmured.
“You two nasty creatures! If you are willing to be my slaves, I may consider what you have said.” She shouted.

Helplessly, we agreed. Every day, we cleaned the house and did whatever the witch ordered. But still, she didn’t lend me the magic door. And my face was changed into a cat’s. I was anxious until one day, I discovered that the magic door was locked while I was cleaning the floor along the corridor. If I got the key, Mike and I could escape.

One day, as the witch was sleeping soundly on her bed, Mike and I stole the key for the magic door from her pocket. We tip-toed to the last room of the corridor and we tried to open the door.

“Ding!” The key slipped from my hand and it awoken the witch. She got out of her bed, seeing what was happening.

“What are you two stupid creatures doing? Give me back the key!” the witch screamed as she stepped down the stairs, going to catch us.
“Quick!” whispered Mike. I used my shaking hand to pick up the key and tried to open the old big door.

“Stop it! Or I’ll kill you!” the witch yelled. She was moving closer and closer, but I was still opening the door.
“Click-clack!” The door opened. Mike quickly jumped into the door and so did I. As the witch was so near to me, she caught my tail. I quickly kicked her and shook myself. With Mike’s help, I finally got rid of the witch and we went back to the human world.

Mike and I were in our own town; own house and own room again. “What an exciting adventure!” I sighed.
