Giving advice to a teenager

Joseph,

Yesterday, I learnt that you had a very hard time in your new school. I really sympathized with you and felt sorry for you. I really hope that the advice I’m giving you in the following can offer some help.

Frist, don’t lose heart whenever you’re teased. Everybody runs into difficulties while adapting to a new environment. You’re not an exception. Always remember you’re unique and stay positive and try, learning to ignore the negativity. Don’t be too conscious about being teased by others and your normal school life can be maintained.

Second, showcase your confidence to your classmates. You’ve got to be more engaged in class and activities, so that no one ignores your existence in class. If you recoil or flinch before you classmates, they’d definitely consider you a cowardor an underdog and make fun of you more recklessly. Therefore, you’ve got to actively answer teachers’ questions and take part in school activities and organizations to show them your talents and strengths.

After taking the two actions, you’ll be more likely to make friends in class or through the school team you’ve joined. If the situation continues or aggregates, you may seek help from your teachers. Talk to teachers about the problem and difficulties you meet. Actually, the most direct way is to confront the group of students who tease you. You’ve got to know whether being overweight is solely the simple reason why they tease you. If you realize that you have some unpleasant or undesirable character, you might try to overcome it. If being overweight is the only reason why they laugh at you, then neglect it because it’s not your fault. Outside appearance never takes priority over inner beauty and you would better leave the group of students because true friends never pay heed to one’s appearance. Just look for other friends if that’s the case.

Finally, don’t lose temper at school or provoke the group of students who tease you. You would fall into their trap if you ever did it. Because what they want is to take pleasure in watching you suffer from teasing. So refrain from getting emotional and steer clear of any ideas of challenging them, which will engender a disastrous aftermath. Always bear this in mind if you don’t want to exacerbate the situation.

Hope my advice will work for you. If not, seek help from your parents and teachers and consider moving to another school, which might be your best bet.
