A Meaningful Visit

I went to an elderly home with my classmates last Friday and we had a great time. In the morning at 8 am, we gathered outside the school gate and waited for the school bus to come. The students in charge of buying gifts also brought them along. Then, Miss Kwan and Mr Lee came. Miss Kwan reminded us to behave well and promise her to be good students. We agreed and walked up the stairs leading to the school bus.

After the long way to the elderly home, we finally entered the elderly home. We greeted the elderly politely and chatted with them after the manager had introduced them to us. The elderly were kind and they were thrilled to have us there.

After that, we performed a musical for them to enjoy. It was the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. It was about Little Red Riding Hood falling in love with Big Bad Wolf who was actually a good wolf. It was mainly sung by Sam and Kimmy, our king and queen of singing, while others played different musical instruments like guitar and accordion. We also handed out blankets, biscuits and peanuts to the elderly. They were all very happy.

While they were joining the special activities held every afternoon, we cleaned their bedrooms. Paul and Wendy made the beds. Clarissa swept the floor and John carried the blankets to the laundry.

At last, it was time to go. We all poked our heads and hands out of the windows of the school bus to wave the elderly goodbye. Some also walked out with their walking stick.

We were so glad that we brought the elderly happiness. One of them told me she was bored there, but that day, she had a great time. I think we have done the right thing and the most meaningful thing I have ever done in my life.
