A personal letter on a drama audition

Dear Chris

How’re you doing?  What’s your new girlfriend’s name? (Sorry, I’m always absent-minded.)  Zhuzhu or Mimi?  Whatever, she’s stunning in the photo!  (Remember to send me more photos when you reply.)  I wish to have her face, so I’d have a higher chance of being selected in the audition last week.  (Romeo and Juliet audition, I told you on the phone.)  I felt so bad about being rejected.

I screwed up the whole audition.  I didn’t get prepared at all.  The audition organizer sent me a set of play script.  It was about Romeo and Juliet.  Crap.  My response was like yours.  The story of Romeo and Juliet?  I’ve heard it about a thousand times!  So I just read the beginning of the play script.  Then, I started my homework.  (There was so much homework and SBAs last week!)  The result was obvious.  I failed to memorize the whole script and just made up my own words during the monlogue section.  The judge thought I did it on purpose and gave me a ‘perceptive’ comment.  “Eh, I saw your effort.  It was true that some actors and actresses sometimes change their lines.  But too much isn’t good.”  The judge still gave me a pass to the next round: A duologue.

It was the ‘highlight’ of the day I must say.  My partner, Greg Ho, vomited on me during our short play!  He was nervous on the stage and couldn’t help vomiting!  (I guess he had a seafood buffet the night before!)  It was the most embarrassing moment in my life.  I was so furious and rushed to the washroom.  The judge couldn’t rate our performance because I even hadn’t uttered a word before the tragedy happened.

Now I forgive Greg as he didn’t mean to do it.  (And he promised to treat me a seafood meal next week.  Yum!)

I wrote a letter to ask for a second chance but they already had the chosen ones that day!  It wasn’t fair.  It wasn’t my fault!  I couldn’t have a chance to show my impromptu talent.

Well, looking back, I should’ve stayed on the stage.  I should’ve continued and acted as if nothing happened.  I might have a shot.  It was a rash decision for me to run down the stage.  Be frank, I wasn’t sure whether I could be chosen for the role of Juliet if I were given the second chance.  After all, it was a precious experience.  Get prepared in case any accident happens!

I’ve got to go.  I still have to get my SBA task done.

Best wishes,

Pat
