Living in a city is better

I would prefer to live in a big city like Hong Kong rather than living in a small town. I can enjoy better modern life in such a big city.

First of all, the economic condition of a big city must be better than that of a small town. Various firms are set up in a modern big city which can provide job opportunities. Well-planned infrastructure like the first class airport is efficient enough to attract foreign investors worldwide. On the contrary, in a small town, the business sector is not well-developed, there are only a few shops operating in the town to satisfy residents’ daily needs. Even if I get a job there, I can hardly gain a higher income after working for years. The income mobility is lower with the lack of high value-added industries.

In the second place, life in a big city is much more convenient. The big city is normally well-planned, with transport network that can carry people from place to place, and services like restaurants, libraries, cinemas and shopping malls can satisfy people’s wants in different aspects. I can have a wonderful life there. Compared with a big city, a small town usually doesn’t have a lot of facilities. The choice of activities the residents can enjoy at the spare time is limited and some products may not be purchased easily. Also, it is difficult to reach other places as the transport in a small town is poor.

Last but not least, living in a big city can help me explore the world and broaden my horizons. In a big city, I can meet people from all over the world and acquire the most updated information under the trend of globalization. If I live in a small town, I may not have such opportunities.

I must admit that there are advantages for living in a small town, like better air quality. However, life in a big city is still much more attractive. How lucky am I to be born in Hong Kong!
