A dream wedding? The brightest moment? A wedding planner helps to plan weddings. Young Post meets Sharon Tsang, who works as a wedding planner in her own company.

Requirements
You need to be familiar with different culture as your clients might come from different countries.

You should have high EQ. You always need to be calm and let the nervous bride become comfortable.

You should be good at communication because you need to be in contact with many people.

You need to be attentive and can handle pressure because there could be many problems arising in between.

Basic knowledge of English and Chinese is needed.

Qualifications
You must have a Diploma in Wedding Planner and Event Management.

You need to have several years’ working experience.

Work prospects
Once you get a job, you must concentrate on it. Most of the time, you need to have contact with the bride and groom and their families. You need to listen to their ideas, try to plan the most suitable wedding for them rather than just only putting your own ideas on them.

‘Sometimes there are just some weddings with theme.’ Tsang said it wasn’t easy.  She searches around for information. And when she saw her clients getting married successfully, she would feel it is worthwhile and meaningful.

A day of week
“A wedding planner has a lot to prepare,” Tsang said.

From the places of wedding, booking of dates, decoration, food to the rundown, you need to have good preparation for the groom and bride.

Sometimes you need to go for checking, choosing the right things, tasting the food or discussing with your clients.

“It’s bust, but I am enjoying it,” Tsang said.

To put things in order is important. You might need to guide your clients.

Tsang says being a wedding planner could be fun, but it’s also a tiring and busy job. ‘You need to handle your pressure and schedule well.’
