Animals Have Rights

Animals are living creatures like humans. They are able to feel pain, hunger and thirst. We should not inflict any suffering upon our fellow creatures just because they can’t speak our language.

There are more stray dogs and cats on the streets. The number of them has been increasing in these few years. The reason is the irresponsible pet owners.

It is very important to be a responsible pet owner. First, keeping a pet is a life-long commitment. Pets are living animals too. They have their rights to live. Your pet should be treated as one of your family members. Second, a pet is never a toy. Pets can make people feel happy and relaxed but they are not just a tool to provide us with pleasure. Also pets like dogs have long been kept at home with humans, so they have already lost their inborn surviving skills in the nature. If they become stray dogs or cats, they will easily get ill or even die.

To become a responsible pet owner, there are a few things you can do. Be kind to your pets. Never let them suffer violence. You should take care of them properly and provide them with enough food. Besides the basic necessities, you can buy them some toys to give them a happy life. A pet is not a toy. You should think twice before you get a pet. Never make sure an important decision on impulse.

Other than the above ways, making donation and adopting pets are good ways to protect animals and support our jobs. The aims of SPCA are to promote kindness and to prevent or suppress cruelty to animals.

If you do have time to help in the protection of animals, you could become a volunteer of SPCA. When you join our volunteer team, you will find lots of fun and challenging ways to help. Working in the SPCA centres, you can help create a homelike environment for the animals. You can play with the abandoned pets, talk to them and provided love for them until permanent adopters can be found. You can also help promote the message of animal protection by joining our educational activities. Volunteers will visit classrooms with a variety of living creatures, sharing knowledge about pet care, endangered species and other topics relating to animals and the environment. Becoming a foster parent is another way too. Foster volunteers provide a temporary home for animals which are either sick or injured or too young to be adopted. Volunteers provided loving care until the pet can be placed in a permanent home.

Animals have their rights to live. We should protect them and do not let them suffer. Becoming a responsible owner and support the jobs of SPCA can help more animals. Please give your helping hand.
