Good Morning, Miss Chan

Today, I swapped my role with my English teacher Ms Ng and taught my own class English for a double period.  I am glad that I had this chance to step away from my role and be a teacher.
Before the lesson, I needed to do some research and preparation.  Preparing suitable materials for students is important for their learning.  I did the preparation until late at night, but I couldn’t fall asleep because I was so excited.
The day that I looked forward to finally came.  When I entered the classroom, every student said “Good morning, Miss Chan”.  It was a little bit strange to hear this sentence because those students are my classmates.  Then I started to teach English.  I saw many pairs of twinkling eyes looking at me, especially Ms Ng’s.  She made me feel embarrassed.
I put myself in my teachers’ shoes by spending a double period standing in front of the blackboard and teaching.  I can see things from their perspective.  For example, as a teacher, I always asked the students to keep quiet and pay attention. However, if I were a student, I wouldn’t pay attention and would speak loudly in the lesson.
After this double period, I think that teaching is quite a hard job.  Teachers need to mark the homework till late at night and prepare for lessons.  However, it is very meaningful.
Finally, as a student, I will obey the teachers, hand in homework on time, keep quiet, pay attention in the lesson and not make the teachers angry to reduce their burden and pressure.  I hope all teachers in Carmel can work happily.

Walking in the rain            Natalie Chan (2) 3A

Today, the weather was exceedingly gloomy and oppressive; the sky was overcast with heavy clouds. There was a heavy rain.
When I got off the bus, I looked up at the sky. The sky was listless. There were black clouds sailing in the dark sky. It was sad and crying; many tears were falling down. Soon, the rain poured heavily. Everywhere it was dull and lonely. Suddenly, the sky blew its top. A flash of lightning swept across the sky. Peals of thunder sounded every now and then. It was a deafening roar. The merciless rain went on without pause.
At its climax, the rain came down in sheets. Many pedestrians dashed for shelters. Some of them got an umbrella, but some of them didn't. Big drops spattered on their heads and the rain drenched them thoroughly in no time. They got all wet from head to toe. People waded through the water. After an hour had passed, the street was nearly deserted. The heavy rain continued to patter on the umbrella.
Soon, the rain stopped and the sky was not only clear, but also shadowless blue. While clouds were floating leisurely across the sky, the sun slowly appeared and the sky was beginning to brighten. After the heavy rain, the surroundings took on a completely new appearance. I was deeply attracted by the inviting scenes and I constantly stared at the lovely scenery. I was not only engrossed in the poetical and picturesque environment, but I also fully enjoyed the sunny landscape. I was appreciating the fascinating view while I was strolling leisurely.
The quiet day crept slowly, and eventually evening came. The setting sun was fast disappearing beyond the horizon.
