Thanks to the pandemic, students can only enjoy half-day schooling. In these few months, the news of schools allowing students to return to full-day classes has been announced. Some people may think that full-day education is better, while some don’t. What are your thoughts? For me, full-day schooling face to face is better. You all want to know the reasons, don’t you? Read on!

To me, students spending more time with their friends matters. During full-day schooling, they can eat lunch with their buddies, chat more with their friends and have longer lesson time with their classmates. More can be shared, and there’ll be more chances for them to experience joyful moments together. They can express more about their feelings with their friends, who can be their listeners. When one has experienced a sad time, like family members being laid off or their living standard being in a steep decline, he can share with his friends for a longer time. It’s important for those feeling depressed to have someone to confide in. Yet, during half-day schooling, students don’t have that much time spent with their pals. Their chances of talking about how life has been treating them to their friends will decrease. It can harm their mental health as they don’t have enough time to vent their sorrow but keep everything to themselves. Also, they have less delightful and memorable time on campus. Everyone can only experience school life once! Having a longer time with their companions is an incredible thing, isn’t it?

Having full-day schooling is also better for students’ learning. During half-day schooling, lessons are to be shortened. However, the number of things pupils need to study does not decrease. They still need to learn as much as they did before COVID-19. Teachers may find it too hard to catch up with the syllabus, with some difficult concepts not being able to be explained detailedly. Students even need to learn part of the curriculum by themselves. They may not understand the content well but can hardly stay for too long after school to ask teachers for help, which will worsen their studies. Don’t you think so? When the school timetable resumes normal, teachers can have a longer time to teach and prepare more activities for students, which can let them learn better, strengthening their memories as well. It’s conducive to learning! Do you agree?

Some people think that half-day schooling may give students more leisure time to relax after a tough school day. It may sound sensible, but it will make them lazy. Some may think that they have lots of time to spend on entertainment, like messaging their classmates, sleeping, playing virtual games, watching television, or even idling after going back home. At last, they start lacking self-control and keep doing these till midnight as spending time on entertainment is so attractive yet addictive! You can imagine how their academic performance will become. They spend very little time on schoolwork or even give up on their learning as they may have lost their passion for studying. Their academic results will keep dropping, making them lazier and less motivated. In the long run, they will face the music themselves. I hope no one will fall into the ‘invisible’ trap!

In a nutshell, full-day schooling offers a chance for students to spend a longer time with their friends, learn better and be more devoted to their studies. I genuinely think that full-day schooling is better and had better be resumed as soon as possible. How about you?
