An arrogant dictionary

I am a big, clever, knowledgeable and well-informed dictionary. I was born in a big factory in London.  I came to a Hong Kong book shop by aeroplane. So, I was quite expensive but worthwhile.

I hated other books in the shop. And I even looked down upon them because some of them were foolish, boring and rather thin! Everyone in the shop wanted people to buy them, to take care of them. But I was still looking for a good, knowledgeable and smart master to bring me home.

Once, a boy, a student about 15-year-old, took me up. He wanted to buy me. However, I thought he didn’t match with me. He was not knowledgeable enough. So, I took action. When the young boy took me to the cashier, I jumped down. I wanted to hurt myself. However, I didn’t make myself injured. Luckily, the boy put me back to the shelf and took another one.

Another time, an old lady picked up me. She had already taken many books to buy and finally, she took me up. I thought “Oh! I didn’t want to be with those foolish books together. No, absolutely not! ” I knew I must run away. So, I jumped down from the cashier desk.

“Oh, oh, oh! It’s so painful.” I cried. This time, I hurt myself. My front cover was broken. After that, the old lady didn’t want me anymore and I was sent to a library finally.

In the library, I saw many books. I was too proud of myself. There, I found many dictionaries which were even much bigger than me. Also, I finally knew – everything is good and it has its own purpose!
