There’s still one more chapter left.
Sparky led them to a cave to hide for the time being. However, only a few fireflies felt grateful for what he did.
“Sparky, everyone knows that you must be jealous of our light. We have a reasonable suspicion that you conspired with those two boys. You pretended to rescue us from them, but the real purpose is to kill us all when we sleep. That’s also why you brought us to this cave, but we are not silly. Don’t think that such a little NO LIGHT firefly like YOU can frame us,” a young firefly said.
“No! I never wanted to kill you all, and I want to ensure you are safe, and now everything is okay! I brought you to the cave because those two boys wouldn’t know where we are! ” Sparky shouted.
“I believe Sparky is a good boy, although he has no light,” an old firefly said.
“You two shut up! A no-light firefly would not be a good firefly forever !” the young firefly yelled loudly, and many other fireflies nodded. “Fly away now, everyone! Don’t stay with this BAD Sparky !”
Many of them were gone, and they all flew away quickly. Almost everybody chose to trust the young firefly but not Sparky.
Sparky was very disappointed with the fireflies. Only Mr. and Mrs. Starlight, Bubba, Monique, Kiki (a baby firefly) and Sam (the old firefly) stayed with him.
“Sparky, we know you are a kind boy. Maybe we should help you find your light to eliminate discrimination,” Sam said.
“Thank you, guys, for believing in me.” Sparky said,” But I think it is impossible to find my light, except there is magic in this world…”
“Magic !” Kiki yelled suddenly.
She flew away and came back with a map. “It is a map that guides us to the magic land !” Kiki said.
“Don’t be silly. There’s no magic in this world, and only fiction stories have magic,” Monique said.
Kiki kept yelling, “Come with me! Come with me !”
Everyone followed her to see what this little girl had in her mind.
They flew for almost an hour.
“We arrived! We arrived !” Kiki said happily.
“Wow ! Magic !”Bubba said.
Every one of them was amazed by the magic land. The sky was purple, and the sea was yellow. The sun was with a smiling face. All the humans there were as tall as fireflies.
“How do you know this amazing place, Kiki? What are we going to do next ?” Mr. Starlight said.
Kiki pointed to a photo on a map, and it was a beautiful girl with pink skin. “Find her! Find her !” she repeated.
They flew through the whole town. No pink skin girl was found.
“Who are you looking for ?” a soft sound came behind them. They turned around and said, “YOU! “
“Me? Why don’t you go to my tree house? Okay, follow me now,” the pink skin girl said.
They went into the magic jungle, and the trees were yellow and stepping on water instead of land.
“May I know what your name is?” Sparky asked the girl.
“Ohh! You can call me June,” June said.
They arrived at the tree house within five minutes.
“Come in !” June said, “Why do you guys have to find me? I didn’t teach magic for a long, long time,”
“My son, Sparky. He is a firefly without light,” Mrs. Starlight said.
“No light! That’s interesting. I received a letter a month ago. It’s talking about more fireflies losing their light, and all light is on the mount of witches,” June said, “The only way to get it back is to make the Witches cry. That’s all I know. To get back the light, follow this map to the mount of Witches. Good luck !”
They thanked June and set off very soon. They flew for almost the whole night. They arrived.
Three ugly Witches were sitting on top of the mountain. The fireflies flew up there.
“Haha! A firefly who lost his light! Are you going to make me cry within five minutes and get back your little light ?” one of the Witches said.
“Yes, I’m ready !” Sparky answered.
“Ohh! Also, if you lose, you will not be able to regain your light forever, ” another witch said.
“No problem! I must have my light today !” Sparky answered.
“Five minutes start,” the Witches said.
Sparky started to talk about how other fireflies treated him when he was small. The tears of everyone there started to fall. The stories show how other fireflies bullied Sparky. The stories are about how Sparky tried to be good to them, but no one cared and thanked him because he had no light. The stories that Sparky was a naughty, stupid, strange, bad, crazy…the worst firefly in the whole world in the other’s mind. Sparky’s childhood was dark, hopeless and had no light…
The three witches realised their fault and took away many fireflies’ happiness.
“Sparky, thanks for your sharing. We will give back all the light to those fireflies…and you,” the witch standing in the middle said.
“Wa ! Nice job Sparky ! You helped many fireflies! “Sam said.
“Take back your light, Sparky !” a witch yelled.
“Finally…”Sparky whispered, and he started to glow.
His lights were special. It had the colours of a rainbow, and it was very bright.
“Sparky! You are glowing! Your light is so beautiful! ” Bubba said.
“Thanks for your support. I’ll not return to find those fireflies who don’t like me. I’ll stay in the cave with Mr. owl. Feel free to come and visit me !” Sparky said with tears in his eyes.
“Sparky, we will be with you! You are the one who has the true kind heart,” Sam said. Everyone nodded.
“Yay! You are the best, you know ?” Sparky said to all of them.
They flew back to the cave and started their new life.
