Hard work does pay off

It was a precious chance to spend a whole day with my idol, Joey Yung.  I was excited and thrilled to meet her.  While waiting for Joey in the music studio, there were butterflies in my stomach.  Eventually, I saw her.  I got a glimpse of her and I whispered to myself, ‘It’s a dream come true.’
Joey started the day recording a new song of hers.  There were many helpers, directors and technicians putting their heads together in the studio.  I originally thought that recording a four minute song wouldn’t take too long, but what surprised me was that it took several hours to record it.  During the recording, Joey always needed to pause and repeat.  Even a very minor mistake was not allowed.  I stared at Joey.  She was still smiling and tried her best to perform at her best.  I waited and waited, and consequently, after eight hours, the recording was finished.  I saw Joey giggling.  She said, ‘Hurrah!  It’s really a nice song.’
After having our late lunch in just half an hour, we had to head to another studio for a rehearsal of Joey’s concert.  In no time, Joey was already learning to dance and sing in the studio.  I was amazed that she hadn’t wilted after the morning recording.  She even picked up the dancing steps quickly.  When I watched her practising with the dancers, I was charmed by her movement.  Meanwhile, the choreographer was forcing Joey to repeat the dance again and again so that it was error-free.  The rehearsal was demanding.  There were just a few breaks for Joey to have a rest and recharge her batteries.  Abruptly, Joey screeched ‘Oh!’  All dancers and helpers rushed to have a look.  I peered through the crowd and saw Joey fallen on the floor with pain written all over her face.  She fell when dancing and twisted her ankle.  I heard the buzzing sound in the crowd.  Everyone was agitated while I was heart-broken.  I slowly walked towards her and said, ‘Are you okay?  Do you need some water?’  Then I sat beside her and began our conversation.  Joey talked about what she felt.  She said, ‘As the saying goes, “Let bygones be bygones”, and I won’t give up.’  I was touched by what she said.  Finally, the day was cut short, with Joey being sent to hospital and we became friends from that time onwards.
After spending a day with Joey, I realized that she is not a person in a different league but just a person with a passion.  Although facing many criticisms and obstacles, she never gives up and even learns from the past mistakes.  She is always my idol and now I know she really sacrifices a lot to achieve her success.  Joey really deserves the adoration of people around the world for her hard work.  Joey always gives a hundred per cent and boldly surmounts all obstacles.  I should also embrace such an attitude and be as successful as Joey is.
