‘So you are the lucky kid who is going to spend a day with Chris?’ The security guard from Emperor Entertainment Corporation demanded ‘I guess so.’ Timidly I presented to him the golden ticket saying that I won the competition held by the music magazine. With my heart almost leaping out of my throat, I was led to a long, spotless corridor. ‘Yipee! Chris is just behind the door!’
To my surprise, accompanying Chris were nine other lucky girls who were just like me. I thought I was going to have an exclusive meeting with Chris! ‘Welcome Pat!’ the singer greeted me pleasantly in an almost artistic manner emptying thoughts immediately. However, not until Chris showed us the schedule did I woke from my dream with a sinking heart as disappointment hit me twice.
The next minute I found myself pacing to and fro in a smelly, ridiculous costume. Any way, I was honoured to act in the film starring Chris, as a voluntary temporary actress. I walked back and forth monotonously for countless times, and Chris yelled out the heroine’s name frantically for the hundredth time. ‘Ahhh! You nincompoop simply cannot convey the feelings!’ thundered the director, bombarding Chris with fierce criticisms. Nonetheless, Chris listened with the most humble manner, raised inquiries as the director’s anger subsided, and practised the lines despite his hoarsened voice. Feeling exhausted, Chris’s professionalism really made my tears roll down my cheeks. On the surface, pop stars household fame like Chris had easy lives. I realized that days could be tough for them. They had to look joyful even when they were actually sobbing with sorrow. They had to work even they fell ill. Being a temporary actress was torturous enough to me!
‘Do you find your job exhausting?’ I plucked up my courage to ask the celebrity during a break. ‘Sure, yet I enjoy bringing happiness to others to alley their stress. It is so meaningful. Sometimes when I feel discouraged, I’d think of my fan’s support to motivate myself through thicks-and-thins,’ Chris explained with his mellifluous tone, leaving me totally absorbed in his speech. ‘I’d rather be more busy than idle about at home.’ He smiled at me. After resuming my consciousness, I felt greatly impressed by his attitude. He was devoted to his job so whole-heartedly that he worked on Saturdays and lived through ups and downs for many years in his career. More than before, I found his face beaming with joy. He was indeed the exemplary model demonstrating how to lead a positive, healthy and well-splendoured life.
After scrutinizing every single detail, the picky director finally announced, ‘Today’s filming is over!’ We decided to harness the free time in the afternoon to sing karaoke together. Just imagine singing with your favourite pop singer! Although we kept shrieking with laughter and singing out of tone, Chris sang jubilantly without blaming us. We played a wide spectrum from many different categories and Chris sang almost every of them. I found Chris a very amiable person, as he chatted with us sincerely and laughed heartily even we played tricks on him.
After singing karaoke, the sun was about to set. The sky blushed as golden light were irradiated out of the clouds’ silver linings. A 50 cent coin dropped out of my purse, startling a sparrow nearly. Fast and delicately, my idol picked up the coin for me. I tooled the coin with my shivering hands, pondered why he grabbed the coin so quickly. ‘Once I was on the brink of giving up my career,’ he recalled, ‘then a 50 cent inspired that if I saved my money bit by bit, soon I would become better-off. I also learnt to strive for a goal bit by bit, step by step from the coin.’
Trembling slightly, Chris curly hair was dyed yellows by the setting sun. We waved goodbye to each other, adding a full-stop to the meaningful day. I was proud to be a fan of Chris. He was a steadfast, friendly, modest gentleman indeed. Beauty is only skin deep. During the day, I uncovered his inner beauty, which was even more attractive than his appearance. Today would probably be one of the most memorable days throughout my life!
