It’s been a while since my last blog entry but I’m back again, energized by a song that I’ve recently listened to — Fight Song and, yes, I would recommend you all to listen to it. The reminders carried in the lyrics can help you achieve more throughout your life. Read on!

I fell in love with this song when I saw the first verse. The lyrics kept depicting small actions that lead to large impacts. Even ‘a small boat’ can send ‘big waves’ to the ocean. Even ‘a match’ can lead to ‘an explosion’. Even one single word can change one’s heart and mind. All these urge me to think that even things that seem unnoticeable or not significant can mean a lot to others and cause great impacts. Well, we never know how little we can do to change the world. But nor do we know how much we can achieve, right? If we always choose not to take initiatives and decide to play safe just because we don’t think we can do much to change the situation, this song proves us WRONG. Not only did I feel guilty that I had always been a coward when I should have stood out, I also remembered a particular scene that proves the lyrics right. I had been suffering from tremendous stress when I was in F4 as I felt like I couldn’t catch up with my studies. My former English teacher suddenly told me to pray. It was just a single word but it was such a powerful word. It gave me strength to keep up with my work and work hard.

What if she didn’t approach me because she thought that she could not do much to help me? I would have still been trapped in darkness. But most importantly, what if I could do the same? What if we could do the same? We might not find ourselves influential but if we take action, we must be able to help someone in desperate need. I’m sure that you’ve all heard of the tragedies of students under stress taking their own lives. What if there had been someone beside them taking the first move to encourage and comfort them? Our society could be much different.

What’s more, this song has reminded me that sometimes we need a reason to fight on. Life isn’t easy— especially when we have to face adverse situations almost every day. It might be a big test coming up, a quarrel between friends, a huge fight in a family and the like. When we still need to hold on and stick to the virtues that we believe in despite all troubles and obstacles crashing in, we may feel lonely and want to give up. Having a companion or two alongside may help, but we aren’t always that lucky. During times alone, we might need a clear goal to fight for so that we could persevere. This singer’s strength to fight on is this Fight Song. Have we found ours?  True, many of you may be preparing for the public exam, so am I. It’s a tiring and dull process. For many times, I have wanted to quit. But if we listen to the singer and try to find a reason to fight on, things might be easier to deal with. Why not give it a try?

Although I’ve mentioned things about doing more to help others and not giving up easily to achieve more, the song at the same time has urged me to bear in mind one thing: you need to pay a price for chasing after your dreams. To do well, we must sacrifice something — whether it is time, fun, rest or any others. It’s like how you’ve to make efforts to succeed. But while being all-dreamy about our ideal future, we must be realistic and take everything into account. To achieve her goal, the singer has left home and left behind her family and friends. This might not be an affordable price but there’s no turning back. It’s alright to have a dream, but make sure that the price trailing behind your dream is something you are willing to pay for.

Yeah, not only does this song have a catchy melody, it also carries such important reminders of life. Among all pop songs these days only describing scenarios of love and lust, this song might be one of the few meaningful ones worth listening to. It might even give you a boost before you have to carry on in life. Think wise and this song will cheer you on. Don’t miss it.
