Nowadays, it is common that many students choose to study abroad.  In this essay, I would like to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad.

One advantages of studying abroad is the students can improve their English. In Hong Kong, most of the people are speaking Cantonese. Nobody will force you to speak English so your English cannot be improved. Nevertheless, in the foreign country such as England, all the people there are speaking English and nobody will talk to you using Cantonese. Therefore, you must learn English very fast to adapt to the new environment. Then, the students’ English can be improved.

Another advantage of studying abroad is the F.3 students can learn to be independent. Nowadays, too many people say that the teenagers rely on their parents so much. They do not know how to do all the housework. Nevertheless, in the foreign country, nobody wakes you up, helps you to wash clothes, tidies up the bedroom and cooks for you. Everything needs to be done by yourself so the students must learn how to do these things and they will become independent.

From the above, we can see that there are clearly advantages in studying abroad. However, there are also some disadvantages.

The first disadvantage is that it is too expensive to study abroad. It costs about seven hundred thousands to one million dollars to get one degree. Not every family can afford it. Some families want their children to study abroad and they spend so much money to support them.

Another disadvantage of studying abroad is the students may face discrimination. In the foreign country, not all the foreigners like Chinese. Some of them may think that Chinese people are impolite. Foreigners may neglect the students and the students may be mirthless. That is too oppressive for a F.3 student.

In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages to studying abroad. However, is it worth studying abroad? Is the effect of studying abroad so marked? I believe that, on balance, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Therefore, I believe that it is better not to study abroad and learn English more actively to save the money.
