An unusual first date

It was love at first sight. When David saw Amy, she was standing next to him in the queue at Starbucks. She bought a coffee and a tuna sandwich and he knew she was the one. ‘She’s beautiful!’ he said to himself. He watched her and he wanted to say something to her but he could not think of anything.

Amy took her food and went away. ‘I need to have a chance to talk with her,’ he thought. Then he saw a bag on the counter and he thought it was hers. He took the bag and went to the table where Amy was. When he wanted to return the bag to Amy, a woman caught him from his back suddenly and shouted loudly, ‘Hey! That’s my bag! Why did you take it away?’

‘No, it’s this lady’s!’ David said.

Amy said, ‘No, it isn’t my bag. My bag’s here.’ Amy showed her bag to David.

David noticed that he had made a mistake. He took the woman’s bag. ‘It’s a misunderstanding! I thought the bag’s this lady’s so I wanted to return it to her. I didn’t know it’s yours,’ David explained.

Suddenly, Amy said to the woman, ‘Can you forgive him? He only wanted to return the bag to me and didn’t take your bag intentionally.’

‘Don’t do this again!’ the woman warned David and took away her bag. David said sorry again and again to the woman. After the woman had left, David asked Amy for her phone number so as to give her a gift to thank her for her help later. ‘Good, I can get her phone number,’ David thought happily.

When Amy was writing her phone number on a piece of paper, she said, ‘Oh, here you come.’ Amy introduced a man walking towards her to David, ‘This is my boyfriend.’

David was very disappointed and ran out of the café without taking Amy’s phone number.
