A letter to Aunt Mary

3C Poon Wing Sze, Icy

Dear Aunt Mary,

I feel devastated receiving the bad news that my uncle has passed away. I still remember the heartwarming memories about him. He used to play fun games with cousins and me and tell us about those fascinating Aesop stories. I understand that you must be missing Uncle George so much but please also take good care of yourself.

I’d certainly help fulfill the wish of Uncle George, who would like to spend his money on a meaningful purpose. I’d like to express sincere gratitude for his selfless love for others on behalf of those who are going to be benefited from his kind donation. I’ve already got a plan on how to spend the 1 million dollars. I promise I will spend every penny in the right way.

I want to build a nursery school in Cambodia, one of the poorest countries in the world, to help look after children of poor families. After putting their children into the nursery, they will have more time to concentrate on their work.

In Cambodia, there are many poor families. Each family may have a lot of children but they don’t have sufficient money to raise their children. They need to go to work from dawn to dusk to earn their daily bread and they don’t have enough time to take care of their children.

Most of the children living in Cambodia have rare chances to receive proper education as they are living under poverty. Therefore, I plan to employ some teachers to teach and look after those who live in the nursery school. After receiving education, they have a better chance to get a better job when they grow up and are capable of improving their living.

Also, I have heard that some of the children will be sold to others because their parents don’t have enough time and capacity to raise them. How poor they are! They are still very young. If they are sold to some bad places, such as those vice establishments, they may be enslaved being child labor or even prostitutes. They will be living in hell forever. I could not bear thinking that they will end up living in such dangerous places. I want to provide them with a safe and warm place for them to grow up.

In my nursery school, they would be safe. There would not be human trafficking, porn buys and sell or sweatshops. Children can enjoy happy and safe childhood, like that we had with our family and Uncle George.  They could receive good education. They would know that the world is bigger than they have seen. Their world will not be limited to that in Cambodia. They would have a better life in the future.

Moreover, their parents’ burden can be reduced because our services are free. If their family have problem raising their children, they can leave their children to us. They can feel relieved and concentrate on their work after putting their children in the nursery.

This is my plan for using $1,000,000. My dear Aunt Mary, cousins and I will pay you more visits. I really hope that we and Uncle George’s love for others would help you walk through your grief. Keep in touch.

Best regards,

Icy
