Putonghua Day was held in your school recently.  In no less than 250 words, write an article to the Young Post to report what happened that day.

Lively Putonghua Day

Putonghua Day was held in Carmel last Friday!  It was the first time that students and teachers and even the principal had spoken in Putonghua both inside and outside the classroom.

Putonghua Day was held to encourage students to speak in Putonghua with others on campus.  When so many people began to switch to Putonghua, the students did not feel shy using Putonghua to chat with their classmates any more.

In the morning assembly, the principal, Miss Ng and some Chinese and English teachers made the announcements in Putonghua in order to encourage students to communicate in Putonghua.  And at lunchtime, there were game booths run by the Putonghua ambassadors.  But the most special thing was the mission to talk with 5 teachers in Putonghua.  When the students completed their mission, they could receive a gift.  The gifts were extremely special: the bookmarks designed by our Principal.  This aroused students’ interest in joining the games.  Chatting with some teachers who seldom speak in Putonghua was really an unforgettable experience.  It was not only a kind of practice, but also an enjoyment.  Many students excitedly shared with their teachers and wore a smile on their face.

If the students could speak in Putonghua the whole day with both teachers and classmates, they could receive an extra prize given by the Putonghua ambassadors.  There were five presents in total which they could freely choose: files, candies, cups, pens, and notebooks.  Therefore, the students joined the activities actively in order to claim extra prizes.

During the whole Putonghua Day, the students responded actively.  They zealously joined different kinds of games and found teachers to chat with.  This was the first time that all teachers had spoken Putonghua.  They really set a good example to the students.

What a lively Putonghua Day!
