Book: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Author: Roald Dahl

This is a story about a boy named Charlie who got an invitation card from a chocolate factory. There were other children who got the invitation card too, but they were not like Charlie. They were impolite, mean, greedy and selfish. The funniest thing is the owner of the chocolate factory Mr Willy Wonka gave some punishment to those spoiled children and then they all went out of the factory with anger. At last, only the kind kid Charlie stayed at the factory and became the owner of the chocolate factory with his family!

After reading this book, some of my friends thought that the punishments to those spoiled kids were very funny and interesting. I think that this is one of the messages from this book. One of the kids was so greedy and he nearly got drown in the chocolate pool. One of the kids didn’t listen to Mr Willy Wonka and he became a tiny elf. I think that this book wants to tell us not to be greedy or impolite and we should think carefully before we do anything. Another message from this book was love. When Mr Willy Wonka asked Charlie to be the owner of the chocolate factory forever, he must leave his home and family but stayed at the chocolate factory forever. Although there were many delicious sweets and toys in the factory, Charlie refused the offer because he didn’t want to leave his parents and family alone.

Charlie is my favourite character of this book because he was a kind kid and he loved and respected his grandparents very much. He chose his oldest grandpa but not his parents or friends to accompany him to the chocolate factory because he knew that his grandpa couldn’t walk one year later. So he wanted to let him enjoy the last year when he could walk. Besides, his home was so poor that he only could get one bar of chocolate every year. Other children could have many new toys on their birthday. But Charlie didn’t

complain to his parents because he knew that their home was so poor and their parents couldn’t afford it.

I will give this book nine out of ten marks because there were many good parts in this book. One of it is that the other kids were spoiled and they were selfish and greedy but Charlie was very polite. This made a strong contrast between Charlie and other kids. That lets readers think that Charlie was very kind and shows Charlie’s good personality.

I think this book is very meaningful and funny. It is a good book for children which will teach them many life lessons. So I’d recommend it to everyone.
