Dear Alex

Exams are coming and everyone is nervous, I think I’m prepares, but some nights I have terrible dreams about staring at the exam paper and not knowing anything. Sometimes I dream about my pens not working or just not understanding the question. These aren’t normal nightmares. When I wake up, I feel like I’ve had a fever and haven’t slept at all. Is there a way to stop these dreams?

Dear Stressed-out insomniac ,

Poor student, I am glad to receive your letter. I have been a student like you before. Some students never care about their academic performance while some always keep worried about the schoolwork . I think that study is important, however, it’s not the only thing in our lives. I understand you are depressed. When I was still a student, I concentrated on my academic work , but I could also have a balanced life . Don’t be afraid. Here I am going to tell you some mature, normal and also useful advice.

As a student, it’s good that you understand the significance of study . But if you can’t learn how to relax, it will never be good to you. You have some terrible dreams at midnight because you are extremely nervous for your exams. As you have already well-prepared, I would recommend you not to think about the exams all the days. You can just put it away and relax yourself. It is very important. You still have to study for many years and so learn to have a rest while tightening up yourself.

I know that sometimes it is so difficult to discard it from our mind. Then you had better find some favorite activities to relieve stress. When I was still a student, I loved to read and dance. So, I would go dancing every weekend, even during uniform test or exams week. Also, I read in leisure very often. I relied on them to forget my busy and hard time.

Lastly, if you have tried all these methods but they still can’t help you, I suggest you chat with your friends, teachers or parents and tell them your pressure. You may think that this kind of consolation is useless, but you are wrong! Just a short line of encouragement has been proven to make us more confident.

However, if your horrible bad dreams continue for a long time, you had better see a doctor . Not that I am exaggerating, but a serious and continuous apprehension can really make a person insane and depressed.

Here are all my opinions. Hope they can really help you! If you still need any further help, please feel free to let me know anytime. By the way, hope you will get a perfect exam result!

Best regards,

Alex
