'Michael, Melanie. Wake up at once! I need to attend an important meeting half an hour later and I don't want to be late. I’ve already called your aunt to take care of you.' Mum said when she was dashing downstairs and putting on her necklace and earrings. Although her voice was loud, Michael and Melanie did not get up. They were still fast asleep and having a good time. They even did not notice that the pan was cooking their favourite food, pancake, which was supposed to be their breakfast.
After half an hour, the smell of burnt food drifted from the kitchen and finally woke Michael and Melanie up. 'What's wrong with the kitchen, Mike?' Melanie asked.
'I don't know but we gonna check it up.' Michael replied. They were so shocked that they stood frozen for more than three minutes. It was all because the pancake was totally burnt and the fire was also out of control. The curtains, the table, and the chairs were all swallowed in this fierce fire. Suddenly, the door bell rang and a team of firefighters rushed into their house and started to put out the fire. The fire was soon taken control of. Michael and Melanie looked at each other remorsefully because they thought if they had got up sooner, the fire would not have broken out.
One week later, their mother was scurrying downstairs while putting on her jacket. But this time, she said, 'Michael, Melanie, do you want the fire to break out again because of the cooking pan?' Michael and Melanie woke up quickly and smiled at each other and said, 'No, never!'
