Beat Addictions!

I love to surf the Internet as I can get much entertainment from it.  For example, I can watch many funny and amazing videos on YouTube and play online games on ‘Sina Games’.  I can also write down my daily experiences, whether happy or not, on Xanga which is used as an internet diary.  However, I seemed to be addicted to the Internet because I’d even tried to use more than six hours for surfing it.  Besides, even though my mother ordered me to stop using the computer, I did not follow at all, and even answered back.  I realized I had to try to stay away from this addiction in the Easter holidays.
Starting from last Saturday, I have tried and stayed away from surfing the Internet for five consecutive days.  In fact, on the first two days, I thought of giving up because no matter whether I slept or had lunch, I always thought of my computer and this made me feel uncomfortable.  Luckily, every time I wanted to give up, my conscience reminded me that if I kept on surfing the Internet, my schoolwork would be affected, and I might get a bad relationship with my mother because of my refusal of stopping using the computer.
For making myself not miss the computer, I tried to do other activities.  For example, I read interesting fiction books, and chatted with family members.  Although someone may think that these kinds of activities are much less interesting, I realize that they are not only quite interesting, but also good to me.  Fiction books are interesting, and when we read them, we can learn the authors’ writing skills.  On the other hand, chatting with family members is fun and we can build up a good relationship with our family through it.
After doing other activities to replace surfing the Internet, I discover that I have already stayed away from it because after I did TV News today, I did not take the chance to visit other websites.
In this experience, I know that no matter how difficult a challenge is, if we have the confidence and boldness to solve it, we will succeed in the end.  Besides, I get a message from the experience that the action of trying is very important.  As long as we are willing to try, we are not far away from success anymore.
