A Dying World

When I woke up that morning, I knew something was going to happen.  I became an eighteen year old girl.  I was taller, heavier and my hair was longer.  It was unbelievable.  I rushed to the dining room to look for my family.  They were having breakfast as usual.  Oh!  They also became older.  My goodness!  What was going on?  Who could give me an answer?
I was lost and I was puzzled.  I went back to my bedroom and dressed because I want to leave.  “Mum, I’m out now.  See you later.”
I walked along the street.  The air of the city was dirty.  It made me choke.  The lake and sea were muddy.  The pollution was more acute than before.  I couldn’t believe our beautiful world would become a dark and ugly place in just a few years.  I regretted I didn’t protect our environment.
I walked towards the beach and sat by the sea.  When I was looking at the dark and filthy sea, I was missing my childhood.  In my childhood, the Earth was beautiful.  The sky was clear blue, the sea was crystal clear and the air was fresh.  I always played with friends on the beach and in the forest because we liked nature.
I left, and I decided to retrieve my childhood and save the world from pollution.  It might be very difficult but it was my choice.  I must strive hard.
“Ah!”  I cried.  I was knocked down by a car when I crossed the road.  When I came to, I was in darkness.  I couldn’t see anything, even my fingers.  I was scared.  Suddenly, I heard a voice.
“I’m the God of Death.  Dead people, I hate you since you destroy the world.  Hunting animals, cutting down the trees…” he said angrily.
“No, not everyone is like this.  We have organizations to protect the environment.  And I also like and want to protect the world.  However, I’ve missed the chance now…”
“Tell me, what is your outlook on life?”
“In the past, I only played and watched TV but now I’ve learnt how to take care of nature and cherish it and I know it’s important now.  Therefore, my new goal is protect and enjoy nature.” I said resolutely.
He grinned.  And I felt sleepy.  After I woke up, I was in hospital.  I became an eight year old girl again.  “I’ll keep my promise.  Thank you, the God of Death.”  I beamed.
