{"id":916,"date":"2011-09-14T16:39:34","date_gmt":"2011-09-14T16:39:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web02.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters2\/archives\/916"},"modified":"2015-05-24T07:04:26","modified_gmt":"2015-05-24T07:04:26","slug":"a-blessing-in-disguise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters\/archives\/916","title":{"rendered":"A Blessing in Disguise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six people were trapped in Wu Chung House on 9th Sept.&nbsp; I was one of the victims, and hoped to share my experience and feelings with you.<br \/>&nbsp;That morning, I went there to visit my dad as we had planned to go shopping in the nearby stores after he finished his work.<br \/>&nbsp;However, right before entering the lift, the electricity went off.&nbsp; All lights were off and so was the ventilation system.&nbsp; We went for the fire exit but it was locked!&nbsp; We tried to phone for help, but the reception device of the building was off and thus no signals could be received.&nbsp; And there were no ways for us to open the windows as it was a glass wall.<br \/>&nbsp;Hopelessly, my dad and I sat together and started chatting.&nbsp; By his estimation, there should be a guy on the 3rd floor who was so impulsive that he would break the glass and throw paper slips for help.<br \/>&nbsp;At that time, we chatted about lots of things like his work, HKDSE, China&rsquo;s political environment and the global economy.&nbsp; We chatted so long for the first time, and it was also the first time that I could get the feeling that the man in front of me was my father.<br \/>&nbsp;Cling!&nbsp; The glass wall was broken and a fireman came in.&nbsp; Looking at my watch, it was 4 p.m. You may think that I would feel happy as I was rescued.&nbsp; However, I hoped that the time could turn back to 11 a.m., when we started our father-son chat, the most pleasant chat we had ever had.<br \/>&nbsp;That day, I learnt the importance of communication and I hope that all of you can treasure your family relationship.<br \/>Pat Chan<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Six people were trapped in Wu Chung House on 9th Sept.
