{"id":867,"date":"2011-09-14T15:18:10","date_gmt":"2011-09-14T15:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web02.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters2\/archives\/867"},"modified":"2015-05-24T07:04:46","modified_gmt":"2015-05-24T07:04:46","slug":"should-people-be-allowed-to-perform-on-the-streets-332","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters\/archives\/867","title":{"rendered":"Should people be allowed to perform on the streets?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hong Kong is known as a cultural desert.&nbsp; Although there are some places of art and culture, these places have never been popular.&nbsp; Therefore some artistes start to perform in the streets.&nbsp; Because of this, I don&rsquo;t think street performers should be banned.<\/p>\n<p>First, I do think Hong Kong needs more artistic and cultural elements.&nbsp; Street performers have removed the dull image of Hong Kong.&nbsp; They bring much happiness and special talent to the onlookers.&nbsp; They make packed streets more lively and cultural.&nbsp; For example, some underground bands would perform in the busy streets, and attract many passers-by.&nbsp; These bands even have a chance to share their original songs.&nbsp; This is how street-performing helps to build the cultural image of Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>Street performers will also become a distinctive mark for Hong Kong when promoted.&nbsp; Different performers have different talents.&nbsp; Some are good at juggling and others do&nbsp; street dramas.&nbsp; These special shows may be famous and attract tourists.&nbsp; In other countries, street performances are popular and there is even a saying that in western countries, if you open a box and perform, you may get enough money to get back home.&nbsp; I really think that Hong Kong should promote our unique street performances by holding a street-performer festival.&nbsp; It will become a landmark for Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, street performance is a platform for different kinds of people to share their ideas.&nbsp; Teenagers who wish to have experience to be a performer can choose the street platform.&nbsp; If their dream is being a singer, they could first try it on the street.&nbsp; In Paris, a street singer performed singing and his wish came true.&nbsp; He is Dave Bosio.&nbsp; This is a good example to show that street performing could broaden one&rsquo;s experience and make dreams come true.<\/p>\n<p>Someone may say that street performing will block the main streets and pedestrians could not pass through.&nbsp; But these are all exaggerations.&nbsp; Yes, maybe it causes some crowds, but with suitable organization, the streets will not be packed anymore and onlookers still can enjoy the performance.&nbsp; This is a win-win situation all around, isn&rsquo;t it?&nbsp; In conclusion, I see that allowing street performers to stay on streets has more advantages than disadvantages.&nbsp; Therefore we should allow street performers on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hong Kong is known as a cultural desert.
