It was just an ordinary night, when Thomas was at home with his dad, Mr. Phillip. Mr. Phillip was cleaning the dinner plates in the kitchen while Thomas was watching the television, resting cozily on the sofa with a blanket. This was their daily routine. However, Thomas could not focus on his favourite cartoon show. He kept glancing at the clock every second, now and then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Ding-Dong\u2019 Thomas ran to the door immediately and peeped through the door viewer. Standing outside, his best friends Walter and William heard the swift but heavy footsteps and smiled at each other identically. Thomas nudged the door, giving his twin friends a bro hug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Hey, man! How have you been?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Pretty good!\u2019 He welcomed them to the living room, and they all sat around the coffee table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Shall we play Monopoly?\u2019 Thomas suggested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Again? We literally play this game every time we come to sleep over. You\u2019re really obsessed with this game, huh?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
William could see Thomas\u2019s eyes sparkling. \u2018Fine. Just one round for you, Tom, and we shall play other games afterwards, okay?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This put a bright smile on Thomas immediately. \u2018Yay! Let\u2019s set up the board game arena together!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a whole hour, the game finally came to an end. \u2018Ha-ha! Look Dad! I\u2019ve won!\u2019 Thomas shouted. Sitting on the sofa, Mr. Phillip leant forward, patting his proud son on his head. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Dang, this is just a luck-based game, isn\u2019t this?\u2019 William looked at his empty in-game wallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Don\u2019t worry, Will, we\u2019ll surely get him in other games,\u2019 Walter patted his brother\u2019s shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Hey, I\u2019ve realised that you two always call me Will. I haven\u2019t really heard you call me by my full name.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
William looked at Thomas in the eyes. \u2018Say it after me, \u201cWilliam\u201d.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Will-I-am?\u2019 Thomas looked up at William with his innocent eyes, that William could not tell if he said it intentionally or not. Not understanding why William was looking at him doubtfully, Thomas tilted his head to the side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Will-I-am\u2019 repeated Walter, who was trying to keep a straight face, but ended up giggling. \u2018Why are you also like this \u2026?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Rumble, rumble,\u2019 William got cut off by a strange noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They all went silent, and it was a very loud silence. \u2018Did you all hear that?\u2019 Thomas\u2019s bright voice broke the silence. \u2018It was from right above us! Wait\u2026 isn\u2019t that my room? But there are just the four of us in the house!\u2019 Thomas trembled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018I didn\u2019t know you live with ghosts, huh?\u2019 joked Walter, as he watched the boys\u2019 faces turning pale. \u2018I- I was just joking. Ghosts aren\u2019t real, are they?\u2019 Walter said promptly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
William breathed a sigh of relief, \u2018Well, I guess we could only find it out by ourselves!\u2019 Without further explanation, he grabbed Thomas on his left arm, and Walter on his right arm. William dragged them towards the stairs with all of his strength. \u2018Fine, we can walk ourselves!\u2019 The boys sprinted upstairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Wait kids! It was prob-\u2019 Mr. Phillip could not finish his line before they ran out of sight. He smirked as he rested his back on the backrest of the sofa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lights were dim in the corridor, and the door of Thomas\u2019s room was firmly shut. The boys panted outside the room, which they were only one step away from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Tom, this is your room, right? You should go in first \u2018cause you know your home the best. Don\u2019t worry, we will follow you afterwards,\u2019 proposed William, as he began to regret suggesting to come and investigate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018But- but I\u2019m s- scared.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thomas once again looked up to the twins with his crystal-clear eyes. \u2018What about letting Walter lead us into my room? You\u2019re the oldest, right?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Yeah, only by three minutes!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The boys kept pushing each other on the back and Walter sighed. \u2018Alright, I\u2019ll go first, but you two need to help me out, okay? Tom, you\u2019ll turn on the lights, and Will, you\u2019ll help me catch the ghost- I mean in case there really is one,\u2019 Walter uttered while he slammed the door open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBAM\u201d the door hit hard on the wall. The boys followed him right after Walter stepped into the room, and Thomas ran towards the light switches. Just as the lights were turned on, the boys froze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Are you alright?\u2019 Mr. Phillip walked upstairs, \u2018I heard a loud bang. Did you guys get hurt?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Oh,\u2019 Mr. Philip arrived at the door of Thomas\u2019s room, \u2018Guess you\u2019d already figured out what it was.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The boys were standing around in the room, staring at a black object. It was Thomas\u2019s robot cat toy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018I- um I think I might have forgotten to turn it off after playing with it this afternoon. Ha-ha\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thomas scratched his head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018It moves when it detects sounds, and it makes noises when \u201cwalking\u201d with its wheel legs,\u2019 added Mr. Phillip. The robot cat went around in a circle, as if it was responding to their conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018At least it wasn\u2019t a ghost,\u2019 William was relieved, wiping off his sweat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018Well then,\u2019 said Mr. Phillip. \u2018It\u2019s pretty late already. You guys had better go to bed now.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The twins pulled out their sleeping bags, and Thomas got onto his bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
