Firstly, accounting provides you with better careers prospects. As you know, being an accountant can earn more money than being a musician. Moreover, music is a kind of subjective art; it does not have an objective standard. It is hard for you to succeed. To be frank, if you are not well known enough, it is hard for you to earn a living as a musician. Furthermore, even if you choose not to be an accountant after graduation, an accounting degree can still help you better than a music one in finding a job. If I were an employer, I would choose the one with an accounting degree, as he or she will be more practical. I know it sounds bad to be so money-minded. However, sometimes, we need to be realistic. I know you love accounting, though you like music more. I think taking accounting is not a bad choice because it gives you a more promising future and you like it too.<\/p>\n
Secondly, music might be too difficult a subject for you. Mary, I know you are interested in music and you love to sing. However, studying music is more than humming tunes. Studying music involves learning music history and different theories, composing and performing. The studying of music might not be the kind that you desire. Also, though you are gifted in singing, you have not received any professional training and you do not know how to play any instruments. I think it may be very difficult to catch up. Perhaps it might be too difficult for you. Taking music might make your university life too burdensome. You have already been taking accounting courses for a few years and had developed an interest in it. I am sure you can achieve much more in accounting, and can have a much joyful university life. I think taking accounting is a wiser choice.<\/p>\n
Thirdly, taking accounting does not mean you are barred from music. It is not a life-long ban and you can take both. What I mean is that while you take accounting as your university degree, you can learn music outside school. If you choose it this way, you enjoy benefits both from taking accounting and taking music. On the one hand, you can enjoy having better career prospects from taking accounting. On the other hand, you can enjoy music. You can choose which aspects of music to learn. I know you hate history. By taking interest classes instead of university courses, you do not need to study history. Moreover, you will have more time to develop your music potential. You can also control your own learning schedule. Furthermore, I think by this you can truly enjoy music. I mean ENJOYING it. If you can take music as your university degree, learning music will be made compulsory or obligatory. I think forced learning will reduce your passion for music and immense stress will also be built. For one thing, I think music is very different from accounting in that you need to love the subject so as to perform well. If you eventually hate accounting, you still have the ability to be an accountant, but if you eventually dislike music, I doubt you can produce a good piece of music. Not to mention, though you may not be taking music in university, with sufficient training, you can still be a musician. <\/p>\n
