She frowned and said to Li Shin for the first time after that\nday, \u201cPlease, I beg you, don\u2019t go! I already lost my son. I don\u2019t want to lose\nanyone that I love again!\u201d Li Shin sighed and held her hand, \u201cGrandma, as a\nSingapore citizen, I have to do this for my country!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cBut there are already many people\njoining the army, it won\u2019t be a big deal if you don\u2019t go,\u201d Grandma almost cried\nand grabbed Li Shin\u2019s hand tightly. Li Shin pushed away her hand, said, \u201cYou\ndon\u2019t understand, I have to go,\u201d and he left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Starting from that day, Grandma\nalways sat in front of the door waiting for Li Shin\u2019s letter, no matter what\nhappened. None of us knew what happened to Li Shin or even whether he was still\nalive. Day by day and day by day, when we almost lost our hope, we received the\nfirst letter from Li Shin. He told us that they almost succeeded in changing\nthe situation and overthrowing the government. He told us a lot of the details\nin the army but a little bit about how he was doing. Though it was like that, all\nof us were extremely excited to hear his news, at least it proved that he had\nnot died!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Soon, as what Li Shin told us, the\nrevolution succeeded, and all of us, Singapore citizens, finally got freedom!\nWe all celebrated grandly, especially Grandma. She cooked a lot of the dishes\nand all of them were those Li Shin liked to eat. She prepared the things from the\nmorning to the evening non-stop but still couldn\u2019t see Li Shin come back.\nFinally, we heard the sound of somebody knocking on the door. We rushed to open\nthe door, but we didn\u2019t see Li Shin. Instead, we saw a man in military uniform\nand holding a bunch of white flowers. He told us that Li Shin had been already\nvery sick when he wrote us the letter, and he asked the man to come to tell us\nthe bad news and tell us that he never regretted joining the army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; From that day, we all gained more\nrespect for the people who sacrifice themselves for our country, Singapore!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<!-- wp:paragraph --><p>After that day Li Shin and Grandma had arguewith each other, they didn\u2019t talk for a long time until the day that Li Shihad to go to fight a war for his country<\/p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><p>Grandma watched Li Shin packing hithings silently.
