This is a dark, dirty cubicle that is only 40 sq ft in an old Sham Shui Po walk-up.  People may think it’s ridiculous to live in this box but I call it home.
There’s no bathroom or kitchen in my home because it’s only one of the cubicles in a 700 sq ft flat.  The flat’s divided into seven cubicles and all the people are living in cubicles.  We need to share the bathroom and the kitchen.  I need to wait for a long time for a shower and when it’s my turn to use the bathroom, it’s already become extremely wet.
There isn’t any fresh air for me to breathe at home because I can’t find any windows in the cubicle.  I hate to see the rats, fleas and cockroaches.  They are disgusting and also disturbing.  Although I’ve tried to exterminate them many times, they still appear in front of my eyes.
It’s very hot in summer.  There’s no air-conditioning at home.  It’s too expensive for my family.  I’m glad to have two electric fans to keep me cool.  But the temperature is still too high for me.  I sleep in an oven; it makes me wake up at night.
The house is too crowded.  I can’t find a place that is quiet enough for me to do my homework and do my studies.  Disease also spreads easily in the flat just because the place is too crowded and unhygienic.
If I have a chance to leave this cubicle and move to a better flat, I will definitely go.  Someone wants to change the world but I only want to change my home.
